An Australian influencer was left shocked after discovering the unique — and very expensive — way the medals are presented to athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Claudia 'Miss Double Bay' Bursill went into an Olympic-obsessed frenzy on Monday after discovering the medals are stored in custom-made Louis Vuitton trays and trunks.

The heritage French fashion house made trunks for the medals which open up into prominent display cases, with dozens of drawers, each holding three medals.

On her Instagram Story, Bursill shared several moments from the Games, including a young medal bearer holding a tray that housed the gold, silver and bronze medal.

'It's the custom Louis Vuitton medal trays for me,' she wrote.

More than 100 signature trunks from the high-fashion brand have been auctioned off, with one made in 1854 selling for €2,367,792 ($4million AUD).

The Olympic and Paralympic flames each travelled in a custom-made Louis Vuitton trunk thanks to a sponsorship deal with the brand's owner LVMH.

The opening ceremony displayed footage of the trunks being carried down to the Seine and production of the athletes' medals — which feature a hexagonal piece of iron taken from the Eiffel Tower embedded in each gold, silver and bronze medal.

The world's largest luxury label — known for flower-shaped monograms and checkered tote bags — unveiled the trunks in March in the workshops where they were made just outside Paris.

Louis Vuitton has been making trophy trunks since 1988, raising the visibility of the French brand by tying it to popular sports events, like last year's Rugby World Cup held in France.

As part of its 150 million-euro sponsorship deal with the Paris Olympics, several LVMH brands are involved in the Games, including the Place Vendome jeweler Chaumet, which designed the medals and the upscale menswear label Berluti, designer of the uniforms for the French teams.

The 18-gram medals have been designed by jeweller Chaumet, and are ringed with grooves evoking light rays around the outside of the inner hexagonal structure.

The Greek goddess of victory, Nike, also features on the back of the medals, in a nod to where the Games first began in Athens in 1896.

She is seen charging forward, with the Acropolis to one side and the Eiffel Tower to the other.

The Olympics kicked off on July 26 and will run until April 11, followed by the Paralympics on August 28.
