Police have slapped a host of fines on cars dumped on a residential road in Birmingham, which has been dubbed one of the 'worst' streets for parking.

Photographs show four cars dumped in the middle of Philimore Road, on pavements and across pedestrian areas, as neighbourhood police issued fines to drivers.

One brass-necked motorist had even left their car on top of a speed bump, with no regard for how drivers or emergency service vehicles would manoeuvre around it.

It was only last month that the Washwood Heath team took to the road in Saltley after numerous complaints from furious residents over parking.

That time, 12 tickets were issued as officers called out the 'best' worst parked vehicles.

But drivers clearly didn't get the message, with officers returning this Bank Holiday weekend, to find a number of poorly or dangerously parked cars.

Police took to the area as part of Operation Elevate, which uses targeted high-visibility police operations and strategic covert tactics.

Pictures showed some drivers had taken to driving across a pavement if they were unable to fit their car in safely.

Four cars were pictured with either their bonnets or backs spilling onto the pavement.

Tickets were issued to the owners of the cars for obstructing the highway.

It comes after neighbours on a street in Sheffield spoke of the difficulty in finding a parking space outside their homes, often due to commuters and parents picking up their children from school.

One neighbour posted a 94-word rant on a 'commuter's' car, which described the driver as 'selfish' and cheap'.

The letter went viral online and sparked huge debate as to whether the driver was within their rights to leave their car on the road.

Posting the pictures on X, Washwood Heath Police said: 'Phillimore Road. Tickets issued to the registered keepers of these vehicles for obstructing the public highway.

'An expensive parking ticket when they could have found appropriate parking for free.'
