Annastacia Palaszczuk is in line for a $49,000 payrise to take her annual salary to almost $500,000 while battling Aussies struggle to make ends meet.

The Queensland Premier could see her pay soar 11 per cent, along with 93 state MPs set for three pay increases within two years after the move was approved on Friday.

State pollies received a four per cent pay rise on July 1 2023 and will get the same amount in 2024, with a further three per cent pay rise in 2025.

Ms Palaszczuk will need to win the next state election on March 16 next year to receive the pay rise.

Currently, the premier earns $427,561 but this figure could go up to $476,323 by mid-2025.

The Queensland Independent Remuneration Tribunal, an independent agency that oversees the pay of politicians signed off on the measure.

They said their decision was 'consistent with the actual and forecasted rates of inflation with the exception of 2022-23 where inflation was 7.25 per cent.'

'The Tribunal considered that the four per cent increase in public service salaries for 2023 was modest in comparison to inflation.'

The department said that it noted that ‘cost of living pressures are currently being felt across the country, including Queensland...' before they agency arrived at the outcome.

The state's opposition leader David Crisfulli will get paid $378,910 from next year before his pay packet jumps to $390,277 by mid-2025.

The base salary of MPs will also go up with backbenchers in line to receive annual salaries worth $189,505.

Ms Palaszczuk is the second highest paid premier in the country, behind Victorian leader Jacinta Allan who gets paid $481,190.

The latest round of pay increases comes as Aussies continue to feel the brunt of the cost of living crisis.

Many are scraping buy to pay their food and groceries bills as hundreds of thousands struggle to pay their rent and housing unaffordability gets worse due to higher house prices and low vacancy rates.

The Reserve Bank has increased the cash rate 13 times since May 2022 but Aussies were given a brief reprieve when the RBA kept rates hold at 4.35 per cent at its final interest rate board meeting of the year on December 6.
