Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong has gone viral after his jubilant interview following the club's first ever Bundesliga title triumph on Sunday.

Xabi Alonso's side thumped Werder Bremen 5-0 to clinch the historic and elusive piece of silverware in a remarkable campaign which has seen Frimpong emerge as one of the club's major stars.

Frimpong - who started his career at Man City before moving to Celtic and eventually joining Leverkusen in 2021 - has been integral in the club's amazing rise to the top of the table, contributing with 12 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

While the 23-year-old had experience of winning silverware in Scotland after claiming the treble of the Scottish Premiership, the cup and league cup in 2019-20, he was understandably overjoyed over Leverkusen's monumental achievement to hold off giants Bayern Munich.

A clip of a relaxed Frimpong has now circulated online with fans left in stitches over his candid attitude and positive energy while chatting the Bundesliga English's interviewer Archie Rhind-Tutt.

Frimpong hailed a 'special day' and said all Leverkusen were 'loving' life under Xabi Alonso

Frimpong decided to lean on Rhind-Tutt's shoulder, leaving him bemused, as he raved about Alonso's impact at the club and spoke about their dream of lifting the Bundesliga - before catching the interviewer off guard with a compliment.

'I like the pink by the way, very nice, you look handsome.'

He added: 'Today was a special day for us as we knew a win would give us the league. We were extra motivated and the coach (Alonso) didn't even need to give us a speech because we were all excited. We got the job done and are champions of the Bundesliga, What can I say?'

'Everybody is loving it in there,' he added. 'The coach tried to drench me, Edmond Tapsoba tried to drench me. I've come here to hide!'

The 23-year-old has been one of Leverkusen's standout stars with 12 goals and seven assists

'I mean, Xabi Alonso has changed Leverkusen you know, we've never won the league before so he's the first one to win it for us so he did an amazing job.

'Of course, the season is not finished yet but we can enjoy this moment. We know we won the Bundesliga so we can enjoy that today.

'And tomorrow, our focus is on Thursday against West Ham.'

When asked what the secret was for his positive attitude, he replied:  'What's the secret? Just have a smile you know, just enjoy life because you only live once.

'So whilst we're on this earth just have fun, love others and give possible energy and then life is good.'
