Ex-NBA player Joe Smith has revealed his fortune dwindled to as little as $3,000 in 2018 after making $61million throughout his lengthy career.

Smith, who has been in the headlines of late due to a viral video of him finding out his wife had an OnlyFans account, was the first overall pick of the 1995 NBA Draft.

But years after his career wrapped up, he was struggling to make ends meet as he battled with depression, he told VLAD TV in a new interview.

'It was a very low point,' Smith said. 'Like, when I say I was in a deep, deep, deep depression, like mentally messed up, I'm telling you I was there.'

Smith, who last played for the Lakers in 2011, also added that his NBA pension 'hasn't kicked in yet.'

The former player also started an individual coaching business in 2015, he said.

In 2018, Smith was featured in 'Back in the Game,' a reality show hosted by Alex Rodriguez designed to get ex-athletes back on track financially.

And while Smith does not regret appearing on the program, he thought it would have a greater impact on his life.

'That TV show, I thought would help more with the stuff they were saying they would do, and saying that they would help me with,' he said.

'But once we finished shooting that was it. I couldn't get in touch with anybody at the TV show… So I was kind of just left out to dry after that show aired.

In the same interview, Smith insisted that the video of him finding out that his wife, Kisha Chavis, went back into the X-rated business via OnlyFans was not a stunt.

Chavis is a former adult actress and shared footage of the moment he found out about her participation in the website.

'That's bulls***. That's f***ed up Kish,' he is heard as saying. 'I can't believe I am sitting here, just finding out you have got OnlyFans. After all these years.

Speaking with VLAD TV after his viral moment, he said, 'We don't understand the type of influence that we have around the world.

'I haven't been in the media or I haven't been in the social eye in a long time.'
