Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has signed a new one-year contract to June 2025.
The Italy international joined the Gunners from west-London rivals Chelsea for £12million in January last year, signing an 18-month deal with the option of a further year.
The 32-year-old has been a crucial squad member for Mikel Arteta and, as a result, is rewarded with fresh terms.
Jorginho has played 35 times in all competitions for Arsenal this season and Arteta has long thought highly of his man.
The midfielder’s been called upon for the north London club’s most crucial matches, such as the two league games against Manchester City and used in all but one of Arsenal’s Champions League matches.

The deal is particularly key with the uncertain future of fellow defensive midfielder Thomas Partey, whose season has been plagued by injury. His contract expires in June 2025.
On signing the new contract, Jorginho said: ‘I’m really, really happy to stay, because it’s a privilege to be a part of this family.
‘I felt part of something big straight away. The way I felt involved and how I felt really in a good place. It’s not always like that, so when you feel something like this, it’s something important.
‘I try to give everything I can of myself, to everyone around. Sometimes that can be a cuddle, sometimes it can be words, sometimes show them something. So I just try to help as much as I can in any situation. I feel that everyone here can count on me. I will always be there for them.’

Arteta said: ‘We’re delighted that Jorgi has signed a new contract with us.
‘Jorgi is such an important part of our team, a role model with great leadership skills and a unique playing style ability which makes everybody better around him on the pitch.’
Sporting director Edu added: ‘He represents what we stand for here at Arsenal with his professionalism and success.
‘I know everyone at the club will be very excited that Jorgi will continue to be with us, not only the players and coaches, but all the staff behind the scenes as well.’
