Jose Enrique has seemingly made a blunder in a bid to offer some of his players to another team.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle defender has reportedly become a football agent following a stint of media and punditry appearances since retiring from playing in 2016.

He has been known to be outspoken on social media, regularly giving his opinions on Liverpool and was recently namechecked by former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp for some of his comments on the club.

Now, however, according to Football Italia, agency is the direction that the former player has taken, and he has been busy this summer in trying to get some deals done for his players.

According to the report, Enrique made a blunder in trying to get in contact with Lecce coach Luca Gotti, accidentally messaging the wrong account on Instagram.

Enrique, now an agent, appears to have used Instagram to try and offer the players for transfer

Intending to message Lecce boss Luca Gotti, he actually contacted a fan page for the coach

The account he instead messaged is named 'Luca Gotti reacts', which boasts 10,500 followers and has since shared jokes surrounding the events on the account.

'Hello Luca hope you well and nice talking to you,' the apparent message began, shared in a screenshot online. 'Is Jose Enrique here a former football player and football agent.

'I have two players that I believe could be of your interest. Both of them are signed by me and my brother. Can you let me know your thoughts? Thank you.'

Enrique then provided two links to transfermarkt.com, one for the profile of Feyenoord man Marcus Pederson and one for Rangers midfielder Todd Cantwell.

The messages did the rounds online after seemingly being shared by the owner of the account, with Enrique not addressing the message on his own accounts.

Twenty-year-old Pederson has been with Feyenoord since 2021 but spent last year on loan at Sassuolo and is a full Norway international.

Cantwell, meanwhile, has been contracted to Rangers since 2023 having joined the club from Norwich City.

Lecce play in Serie A, finishing 14th last season, with Gotti being in charge since March.

Enrique was recently criticised by ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp for comments on his exit

On the account dedicated to the 56-year-old, a photo of both players' transfermarkt.com page were shared with an edited photo of Gotti trying to revive someone, captioned: 'Limited to a loan with right of redemption,' seemingly mocking the prices of the players.

Enrique played for Newcastle between 2007 and 2011 before joining Liverpool, initially under Brendan Rodgers before Klopp - who released the defender - took charge.

He had blamed Klopp's exit on the club's owners, to which the German replied in January: 'I saw Jose Enrique, who I like a lot, say it is about FSG.' He said. 'I can tell you, absolutely, FSG has nothing to do with it.'

Enrique was contacted by Mail Sport for comment.
