Their latest show explores the story of a TV presenter who finds his career at risk after overstepping the mark.

But it’s clear there are no concerns about the working relationship between Scots actress Karen Gillan and her co-star Hugh Bonneville.

The pair showed just how comfortable they are in each other’s company when they filmed a humorous skit to entertain their fans.

In a post on social media, Ms Gillan shared a video of her having her hair brushed.

The camera initially focused in on her with only the hand of the person brushing her long, red locks visible.

Slowly, the shot panned left to reveal the stylist as her co-star Bonneville, 60.

During the video Ms Gillan, 36, said: ‘Would you like to meet the genius who does my hair?’

As the video cuts to Bonneville, he keeps a straight face while drily answering: ‘Hello.’

Ms Gillan, who grew up in Inverness and has lived in the US for the best part of a decade, also wrote a message to accompany the post, jokingly stating: ‘A man of many talents.’

The actress is in the UK to promote her new show with Downton Abbey’s Bonneville - Douglas is Cancelled.

Written by fellow Scot Steven Moffat – famous for Sherlock and running Doctor Who from 2009 to 2017 – it sees Bonneville, who shares a morning TV sofa with Ms Gillan’s character, in hot water after an ill-advised comment at a wedding goes viral.

And it isn’t the first time they’ve worked together.

The show sees Bonneville's character face a backlash after making a comment at a wedding

Bonneville once made an episode of Doctor Who with Ms Gillan when she played her breakthrough role of Amy Pond opposite Matt Smith.

That role was the start of a glittering career that has since seen her play the alien character Nebula in Marvel blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy – a role for which she shaved her head.

She reprised her role in a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel and then in two Avengers action movies, firmly cementing her place as a big-budget female action hero.

And it’s clear Scotland remains firmly in her heart.

In May 2022 she married Nick Kocher, a writer for US show Saturday Night Live, at Castle Toward near Dunoon in Argyll.

The wedding was a glamorous affair, with family and friends arriving in a luxury superyacht, while Kocher and the groomsmen opted for a speedboat.

A-list guests, reported to have included Julia Roberts and Avengers co-star Robert Downey Jnr were understood to have been in attendance, while Smith and Moffat were also said to have been invited.
