A manhunt has been launched to find a convicted killer who is on the run from the police, as the public has been warned not to approach him.

Scrap metal dealer Shaun Walker, 29, was jailed for beating a man to death in a row over a moped.

He has been recalled to prison after breaching his licence conditions.

Officers for Gwent Police are advising the public not to approach Walker if they see him, but to instead call 999.

Shaun Walker (pictured) was sentenced to eight years in prison and four years on licence after he was found guilty of manslaughter

Walker was 19-years-old at the time he killed Barry Thomas, 45, after punching him a 'number of times' in June 2013

Gwent Police said in an appeal yesterday (April 5): 'Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call 101, or send us a direct message on Facebook or X, quoting reference 24*109553.

'Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.'

Walker was 19-years-old at the time he killed Barry Thomas, 45, after punching him a 'number of times' in June 2013.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison and four years on licence after he was found guilty of manslaughter.

A trial at Newport Crown Court heard Walker had been 'spurred on' by his colleague Calvin Wall.

Wall, who was 46 at the time, was jailed for eight years after he was also found guilty of manslaughter.

The court heard the three men had been socialising among mutual friends at the time of the attack on Methuen Road, Maindee, Newport, on June 2 2013.

A dispute over a moped led to Walker headbutting Mr Thomas before following him up the street to continue the attack.

Mr Thomas died two days later of a 'catastrophic haemorrhage to the brain'.

The court heard how Walker had a history of convictions for violent crime, including punching a female police officer and fracturing a man's nose after calling him over to him in the street.
