Commuters in Sydney's south are facing potential peak-hour traffic chaos this morning following a high-speed crash that occurred on King Georges Road at Hurstville Grove.
The incident involved an SUV that lost control, ultimately colliding with a power pole and a fence, causing the collapse of power lines.
Emergency services were quick to respond to the scene, with fire crews working diligently to extricate an 18-year-old male driver and his 19-year-old female passenger from the wreckage.
Both individuals were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Additionally, two other passengers in the vehicle sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
As a result of the crash, King Georges Road will be closed in both directions for an extended period, leading to potential disruptions for morning commuters.
Authorities have urged drivers to anticipate significant delays and seek alternative routes where possible.
