A P-plater who allegedly struck a 12-year-old boy while driving through a busy intersection has been charged over the horror crash.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Gardeners Road and Bunnerong Road, Kingsford, in Sydney's east following reports the driver collided with the schoolboy on Tuesday around 3.40pm.
The boy was pinned between the white Holden sedan and a tree after the teenage driver allegedly mounted a footpath.
Police and paramedics managed to the get the boy out around 40 minutes later.

He was rushed to Sydney Children's Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the Holden was not injured but was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital to be assessed.
After he was released, the teenager was taken to Maroubra Police Station and was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving.
He was granted bail and will front Parramatta Local Court on January 10, 2024.
There were major traffic delays following the incident on Tuesday afternoon.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area due to significant traffic delays.
'Northbound motorists on Bunnerong Rd are diverted onto General Bridges Cr,' the Live Traffic alerts read.
'Southbound motorists on Anzac Pde must continue straight on Anzac Pde or through to Bunnerong Rd.'
