Knife-wielding FOX employee RUNS AMOK inside the famed Los Angeles studio lot

A Fox employee armed with knife threatened to harm coworkers and herself as she ran amok on the third floor of the historic Los Angeles studio lot.

Los Angeles Police officials told DailyMail.com the female employee, possibly in her 30s, 'became aggressive' when she was approached by security guards at about 9:30 am on Wednesday.

Dispatchers said the unidentified woman was initially seen outside the Fox Studio compound on the 10200 block of West Pico in the Century City area.

She was 'running in an out of traffic, jumping out in front of vehicles' before she got inside the Fox building, according to LAPD dispatchers.

The woman was seen running in and out of traffic before entering the normally heavily-secured building

The woman brandished the knife at the guards once inside the building and threatened other employees. 

She then locked herself in a room on the third floor and threatened to harm herself, according to local Fox 11 News.

The historic Fox Studio lot boasts 15 sound stages in the 50-acre property in Century City

Fox Studios employees were told to stay away from the area during the incident. 

The woman eventually put the knife down and was detained by officers, LAPD spokesman Officer David Cuellar told DailyMail.com.

Known as 'Movietone City,' the Fox lot was the first compound built specifically for the production of motion pictures

The expansive lot also houses production and executive offices 

The knife was collected by cops. 

There were no reported injuries and the woman was transported to a nearby LAPD station, Cuellar said. 

The Los Angeles Fox lot, known as 'Movietone City,' is home to 15 soundstages, executive offices and television and film production in about 1.8 million square feet of building space.

Several blockbuster movies and TV shows were shot on the historic lot, including ABC's Modern Family, Speechless and Fresh Off the Boat, according to the Hollywood Reporter. 

Classic movies such as Planet of the Apes and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes were shot on the lot, as well as cult classics like Alien Resurrection and the Die Hard series.
