The Los Angeles Angels were dealt a blow Tuesday as it was reported that Mike Trout is expected to undergo knee surgery.
The three-time AL MVP has a torn meniscus in his left knee and will require surgery, Angels general manager Perry Minasian announced via MLB.com Tuesday.
However, in some consolation to Angels fans, the injury is not expected to rule him out for the remainder of the season.
The procedure is set to take place on Friday, according to ESPN, and it is currently unknown how long the 32-year-old will be ruled out for.
The center fielder played the entirety of LA's comeback 6-5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

The surgery will mark the fourth straight season that Trout has been plagued with injuries
However, he reportedly began to suffer with soreness during the third inning and underwent an MRI scan on Tuesday morning, which revealed the tear.
The surgery will mark the fourth straight season that Trout has been plagued with injuries.
Trout has not played in at least 140 games in a season since 2018 and last year was limited to just 82 games due to a broken bone in his left wrist.
In 2021, he managed only 36 games because of a calf strain suffered in in-May, while a back strain limited him to 119 games in 2022.
Trout had made a hot start to the 2024 season, tied for the MLB lead in homers with 10, while driving in 14 with six stolen bases and an .867 OPS.
