LA Mayor Karen Bass embarrassingly retracted her tweet after the Lakers' first-round exit in the NBA playoffs.
After the 106-108 loss that saw the Purple and Gold on the receiving end of a gentleman's sweep against the Denver Nuggets, Bass took to Twitter with an enthusiastic tone toward their season.
'Tough season, but at least we won the in season tournament,' Bass said. 'Proud of our team @lakers.'
The Lakers won the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament in December. Although it added another trophy to their case, it holds nowhere as much value as the team's 17 NBA titles.
After getting slammed by fans for her tweet, Bass tried again by writing: 'You left it all on the floor — thank you @lakers.' However, fans still criticized her for how bad the first post was.

LeBron James and Co. have now lost to the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs twice in a row
'Much better,' a disappointed fan exclaimed.
'Bro deleted the old one,' another wrote.
The Lakers have now suffered back-to-back playoff losses to the defending champions in Denver. Last year, the teams met in the Western Conference Finals before the Nuggets advanced to beat Miami for the title.
The Lakers avoided getting swept by winning Game 4, 108-119. However, Nikola Jokic's 25-20 double-double and Jamal Murray's 32-point performance proved spearheaded Denver to edge the Lakers in the closeout game.
On the other hand, LeBron James was a rebound shy of a triple-double with 30 points, 11 assists, and nine boards. All other Lakers starters were also in double figures, including a 17-point, 15-rebound performance from Anthony Davis in their losing effort.
