Lionel Messi will not feature for Inter Miami in their Champions Cup quarterfinal against Monterrey tonight, according to reports.

Miami is set to face the Mexican club at DRV PNK Stadium in the first leg of their last-eight battle, but head coach Tata Martino will not be able to turn to his star man.

ESPN Argentina claims Messi is out of Wednesday's game after failing to recover in time from the hamstring injury that has kept him on the sidelines for close to a month.

The 36-year-old raised hope of a potential return when he was seen training with his teammates on Tuesday in preparation for the Champions Cup showdown.

However, Wednesday's first leg against Monterrey has clearly come too soon for Messi, who has reportedly been left out of Martino's squad once again.

He has not featured for Miami since mid-March, when he limped out of the team's Round of 16 victory over Nashville SC.
