Lionel Messi's bodyguard, Yassine Chueko, is evidently staying in shape as he was seen breaking a wall during a grueling combat workout.

The former US soldier has previously gone viral for following Messi during Inter Miami games from the sideline.

And while Messi is currently recovering from an ankle injury, Chueko is keeping his skills sharp as he sparred with Luan Aguirre Elias in a video posted to Instagram.

In the video, he can be seen kneeing Elias into the wall - leaving damage on the surface afterwards.

Chueko also joked, '@luanchileno you should pay for the wall' in the caption of the clip.

Chueko has been seen by Lionel Messi's side ever since the star joined Inter Miami

Nonetheless, the pair smiled and shared a handshake afterwards as they examined the damage.

Chueko is a former Navy Seal who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He also has expertise in martial arts, taekwondo, boxing and participated in several MMA fights.

Chueko was reportedly specifically brought on board by Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham to protect their star player.

The decision to hire Chueko came amid a rising number of pitch invaders in recent years, while Messi attracted an unbelievable amount of hype and attention with his move to Miami last summer.

Inter Miami's commitment to Messi's safety was previously outlined by co-owner Jorge Mas last year.

'Security will obviously be enhanced,' he told the Miami Herald .

'Players will be bussed in, going through a tunnel. All of those security protocols are already prepared both for here and away. And it’s not only for our games.

'It’s going to be an everyday occurrence and something we witnessed and I thought handled very well when (Messi) was here with Argentina before the World Cup.

While Chueko has done an admirable job of protecting Messi off the field, he obviously cannot shield him on it, and the Argentina star hasn't played since hurting his ankle in the Copa America final on July 14.

As a result, he has been left out of Argentina's World Cup qualifying squad for September.

Partly on account of his participation in the Copa America, he hasn't played for Miami since June 1.
