Liverpool star Andy Robertson has provided fans with an update on his recovery from injury after suffering a shoulder blow on Scotland duty over a month ago.

The left-back has been a big miss for the Reds since he picked up the issue before having surgery to fix the problem.

Speaking out on his progress, Robertson said his recovery was going well but that he was still taking things slowly to ensure he does not rush back to the pitch and exacerbate his injury.

'Yeah, getting there, slowly but surely,' he told Liverpool's official website. 'Surgery was a success, which was the main thing, no complications from it.

'So far, so good. I think I'm about three weeks since my surgery now, so everything is progressing well. Just bit by bit, got to take it week by week.

'Everything has gone well up to this point and hopefully that continues and then hopefully before we know it I'll be back on the grass.'

Robertson has featured eight times in the Premier League for the Reds this season - scoring once, with Klopp since deploying Kostas Tsimikas in the left-back role in the Scot's absence.

The 29-year-old, who had been playing in a 2-0 loss to Spain before pulling up, refused to give a possible return date - but insisted he was trying to get back to full fitness as quickly as possible.

'I've not looked that far ahead yet [to a possible return date]. I'm just trying to take it week by week.

Robertson went down with a shoulder problem during a 2-0 loss to Spain on October 12

'I'm trying to not get frustrated, I'm not the best [when] injured. I'm trying to just take small wins every single week.

'I don't want to put a game in mind and then I don't make it or I come back before then. I'm just taking it slowly but surely just now, and then there'll be a time to start pushing it – and when that comes, I'll try to get on the pitch as quickly as I can.'

Liverpool have managed to push on despite losing Robertson to injury.

In the time he's been missing, the team have won three of their last four games in the Premier League - with one draw against Luton Town.

Jurgen Klopp's men are second in the table, trailing rivals Man City by one point and look to be one of the leading contenders to challenge for the title this season.
