Controversial basketball star Liz Cambage has been totally transformed in a stunning modelling shoot with a leading fashion designer.

The 32-year-old is virtually unrecognisable in the racy photos she took in a collaboration with fashionista Mowalola Ogunlesi - and her Instagram followers were left shocked and awed by her new look when she posted the results to social media.

Cambage is seen modelling a skin-tight white zip-up dress in some of the shots, while others show her clad in nothing but a barely-there fur creation that struggles to cover her 206cm frame.

Fans of the former Opals star couldn't hide their amazement when they saw her new look, which saw her make-up done in a way that's a radical departure from anything she has modelled before.

The 32-year-old's Instagram followers were stunned by the results of the photo shoot, with one even asking, 'Wow, is that you?'

Cambage is well known for her love of eye-catching fashion but the new shoot is unlike anything she has been seen in before

'Wow, is that you? What a beautiful metamorphose!' one wrote.

Other responses to the post included 'I didn't recognise you', 'Completely different person in these photos', and 'Wow you don't look like you'.

Cambage is known for her love of eye-catching fashion and beauty, and was recently spotted getting a skin treatment in Melbourne after winning her first Women's Chinese Basketball Association championship with the SiChuan Yuanda team.

Back in April, Cambage courted controversy once again by getting ejected from a game in China for viciously elbowing one opponent in the head and hitting another in the face.

Despite being thrown out of the game, Cambage was far from done.

After refusing to leave the court while trying to get officials to review the incident on video, she stormed up to a referee in a menacing way and screamed in his face, before mocking the crowd and delivering a curtsy.

The former WNBA player and Australian Opal found her career on the rocks after allegedly making racial remarks toward the Nigerian national team in a warm-up match before the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Opals teammates and members of the Nigerian team alleged Cambage called her opponents 'monkeys' and told them to 'go back to your third world country' during a break in play.

That put her offside with her Los Angeles Sparks Nigerian-American teammates and she was ultimately released by the franchise.

Her comments also divided the Opals camp and she has since been blacklisted from ever representing her country again.

However, she hit the jackpot when she secured a contract with SiChuan Yuanda, with the team paying her a rumoured $1million for three months' work that ended with them winning the Women's Chinese Basketball Association championship earlier this year.

With the Opals gearing up for a tough campaign at the Paris Olympics, several online commenters said they were glad Cambage would not be part of the tournament once they saw why she was ejected from the game in China.

'I’m a proud Aussie but Liz is an embarrassment not just to most Australian’s but to all those ‘fair’ minded players & spectators around the world who follow sport,' one follower posted.

'Liz has a few issues to work through,' a second posted.

'Such a waste of talent. Could’ve gone down as one of the all time greats if she wasn’t such a magnet for drama.

'So glad they booted her from the Opals. Her behaviour is just downright embarrassing,' added a third.
