Ed McCaffrey thinks his wife, Lisa McCaffrey, may have let him win a 40-yard dash more than two decades ago.

The mother-of-four, who was a Stanford soccer star, ran a 4.5 second 40-yard dash while pregnant with one of her sons, which the Washington Commanders highlighted in a tribute post Sunday.

'Don't get it twisted — @mccaffrey_luke and his brothers' athleticism doesn't just come from dad,' the team wrote on X, tagging the youngest McCaffrey brother, Luke, who was drafted by DC last month.

Ed hilariously responded, 'Oh yea, well she can't be all that fast cause I caught her…although I'm starting to think she let me.'

The NFL legend was drafted by the New York Giants in 1991 and earned three Super Bowl rings throughout his 13-season career.

'Oh yea, well she can't be all that fast cause I caught her,' Ed McCaffrey hilariously joked

Fans were quick to comment on the former wide receiver's funny remark.

'Someone's sleeping on the couch tonight,' one person joked.

Another chimed in, 'On Mother's Day, Ed??? Rookie mistake.'

In a Commanders blog post, Luke said he inherited his competitive spirit from both of his parents.

'When someone asks us, "Where'd you get your athleticism from?" It's immediate, all of us will answer "our mom,"' the Rice University alum said.

'You inherit some of those qualities that you watch every day. It's the fierce competitiveness, the pride that a person takes in their daily work and making everything they do their best,' Luke went on.

'That's just something that my mom kind of carried over into us.'

The former NFL star, who shares four sons with Lisa, added, 'I'm starting to think she let me'

Two of the couple's sons, Christian and Luke, will play in the upcoming NFL season

Luke said he and his brothers get their 'athleticism' from their mom, a former college athlete

Second-oldest brother, Christian, helped lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl earlier this year

Elsewhere in the post, Lisa reflected on 'one of the most special moments for our family' when Luke was selected by the Commanders with the Number 100 pick in last month's NFL draft.

'He had this a million-watt smile,' she recalled. 'Those couple seconds are ingrained in my head. It makes me cry. I will never forget the look on his face.'

Just a few years prior, his older brother Christian was the 8th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The running back helped lead the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl in February, losing to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
