Luke Littler posted some encouragement to Lamine Yamal after the Spain starlet entered the European Championship history books.

Yamal scored a stunning equaliser against France on Tuesday night to help La Roja book a place in the Euro 2024 final, where they will play England or the Netherlands.

Incredibly, he did it at the age of 16, meaning he is the youngest goalscorer in Euros history.

For his feat Yamal has also had a new tag bestowed on him by the spawn of social media, being dubbed by some as the 'Spanish Luke Littler'.

And Littler, who reached the PDC World Darts Championship final aged 16 in January before losing to Luke Humphries, has been more than happy to weigh in on Instagram.

On Tuesday night, the Darts Premier League champion posted a meme depicting him in the heavens with Yamal speaking up to him.

'How am I doing, boss?' Yamal asks in the meme.

'You're doing a great job, son... a great job,' comes the reply of Littler, looking down from the clouds.

It is unclear if Littler mocked up the comedic post himself or if somebody else designed it.

The response on X, where Littler also shared the joke, was mixed.

'Top class this!' one user commented.

'That's unreal,' said another, adding a spree of laughing emojis.

Others were more critical in their responses.

Littler came in for a mix of praise and criticism for his meme from users commenting on X

'One is an athlete and the other plays a pub game,' one user said.

'This is actually weird,' wrote another.

After Spain's victory over France, which saw them reach the final of a tournament for the first time since 2012, manager Luis de la Fuente urged football to 'take care' of Yamal.

'We saw a touch of genius from a footballer who we all need to take care of,' said De La Fuente.

'I would like him to work with the same humility and keep learning with the same attitude and maturity he shows on the pitch. He looks like such an experienced player already and hopefully we can all enjoy him for years to come.' the Spain coach added.

De la Fuente became the first coach to win six consecutive games at the Euros. His side will head to Berlin with a 100 per cent record at this year's tournament, and the manager hailed his players and declared that Spain is in 'its rightful place.'
