Manchester City will be without two key players through suspension for the midweek fixture against Aston Villa

The two midfielders picked up their fifth bookings of the season against Tottenham and will miss the trip to Villa Park.

It will come as a blow to Pep Guardiola's side given Villa's home form this season and they trail Arsenal by three points at the top of the table.

Rodri - who has already served a three-match suspension this season - was booked for a cynical foul on Tottenham defender Pedro Porro.

Meanwhile, Jack Grealish saw yellow for kicking the ball away during a pause in play, meaning he will miss a reunion with his former club.

Rodri was shown a red against Nottingham Forest in September and City struggled heavily in his absence.

Guardiola's side lost all three games  against Wolves, Newcastle in the Carabao Cup and title rivals Arsenal.

Rodri has racked up 150 Premier League appearances since joining City in 2019, missing just 16. In those 16 without him, City have lost six.

The reigning champions do have a like-for-like replacement for Grealish in Jeremy Doku, but the England international made an with a goal off the bench against Tottenham.

The 3-3 draw with Ange Postecoglou's side has seen City drop to third in the table, four points behind Arsenal.
