Manchester United are edging closer to signing Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui if they can sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham.

Both players are valued in the region of £15million but the deal now appears to hinge on Wan-Bissaka agreeing to join the Hammers.

Intriguingly, United are also interested in Mazraoui's teammate Matthijs de Ligt. Both men played under United boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

United and Bayern are understood to be close to agreeing terms for Mazraoui with the 26-year-old keen on a move to Old Trafford.

West Ham nearly signed Mazraoui after agreeing a fee of £12.6million plus £2.3m in add-ons with Munich for the Morocco defender before the deal collapsed.

Man Utd are in prime position to sign Erik Ten Hag's former Ajax player Mazraoui after his £12.6million deal plus £2.3million in add-ons to rivals West Ham Utd collapsed in recent days

The deal for Mazraoui hinges on Man Utd being able to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham

Man Utd are said to be close to agreeing terms with Bayern Munich for Mazraoui who will compete with Diogo Dalot for the starting spot on the right side of defence at Old Trafford

Man Utd are also interested in buying fellow ex-Ajax man Matthijs de Ligt after their £50million offer to Everton for England international centre back Jarrad Branthwaite was rejected

They have switched their sights back to Wan-Bissaka who is in the final 12 months of his contract at United, having moved to Old Trafford for £50m in 2019.

United are keen to cash in on the player this summer, rather than let him leave as a free agent in a year's time, and bring in a new right-back to compete with Diogo Dalot.

They could also sign a left-back after Luke Shaw missed large chunks of last season through injury and Tyrell Malacia didn't feature at all after double knee surgery. The Dutchman has resumed fitness training at Carrington but did not join the pre-season tour to the US.

United have spent £59m on Leny Yoro, who was injured in the defeat to Arsenal in LA in the early hours of Sunday, and still want to add another central defender. Talks continue with Bayern over De Ligt after Everton rejected a second offer of £50m for Jarrad Branthwaite.
