Marc Guehi has won his race to be fit for Euro 2024 after recovering from knee surgery.

The Crystal Palace defender hasn’t played for three months but is now back in full training and is expected to be named in the squad to face Manchester United on Monday.

All being well, Guehi should feature at some point against Erik ten Hag’s side. It will also arrive as a major relief to England head coach Gareth Southgate as he finalises his squad for the Euros.

Guehi, who made his England debut in 2022 and has nine caps, is pushing Harry Maguire hard for the role of John Stones’s central defensive partner in Germany.

After the Euros, Palace know they face a huge battle to keep Guehi ahead of next season.

The defender hasn’t played for three months due to a knee injury picked up against Brighton

He is entering the final two years of his deal and, as things stand, is not considering extending his stay at Selhurst Park.

That is likely to mean that the south London club will look to sell the defender this summer to ensure he doesn’t enter the final year of his contract the following season — which would see his value decrease and open up the possibility of him leaving for nothing in 2026.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham all have a concrete interest in the 23-year-old — who joined Palace from Chelsea three years ago for £18million and has gone on to play 108 times for the club, scoring five goals.

His return should boost the spirits of Oliver Glasner, who is yet to work with the international

His return to fitness comes as a huge boost to Oliver Glasner, who has been without Guehi for the entirety of his reign, as the centre back completed his rehabilitation from an operation on February 28.

Guehi, who suffered the original injury on February 3 against Brighton, completed three sessions at the end of last week before training as normal over the past few days.
