An urgent recall has been issued for McCain products sold at supermarkets nationwide due to possible chemical contamination

The recall is because the products may be contaminated with ethylene oxide, a substance used as a pesticide, sterilizer, and in producing chemicals like antifreeze.

'Food products containing ethylene oxide may cause illness/injury if consumed,' Food Standards Australia and New Zealand said in its recall.

'Consumers should not eat this product.

'Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
