Met Gala 2024: Kim Kardashian's astonishing waistline sends shockwaves through event as she leads red carpet arrivals alongside sister Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez and Zendaya on fashion world's biggest night

Kim Kardashian sent shockwaves through the Met Gala as she flaunted her astonishingly small waist in a silver custom Maison Margiela gown by John Galliano on Monday in New York City.

Kim, who rocked her newly dyed platinum blonde locks in a loose mermaid braid, added a gray shrug to her silvery corset gown.

Her sister Kylie Jenner kept it simple and chic in a rose-water colored strapless gown by Oscar de la Renta, paired with a rose in her hair. 

Jennifer Lopez posed up a storm on the steps in a dazzling in a sparkling see-through bejeweled ensemble.

The 54-year-old singer and actress, who is a co-chair for this year's event, posed up a storm in her silver strapless Schiaparelli gown with a neckline featuring a wing-style design, adding a statement diamond Tiffany & Co. necklace - as she headed toward the famous steps.

Fellow co-chair Zendaya made a statement in a blue and green custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano gown, featuring branch and fruit accents. 

Zendaya added a Bulgari necklace and a striking veiled hat - complete with dramatic eye makeup, thinned brows and dark hued lipstick.

The Challengers actress, 27, had a faux bird over one shoulder and a large feather in her hat. 

Zendaya slipped on a second look for the Met Gala - a 1996 black Givenchy by John Galliano gown  with an Alexander McQueen circa 2007 floral hat. 

The Costume Institute's spring exhibition falls on the first Monday in May every year and is held at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This year the event is titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion while the dress code is The Garden of Time.

Jennifer's Tiffany & Co necklace includes a diamond with over 20 carats of diamonds and over 75 total carats from the Blue Book 2024: Tiffany Celeste Collection, set in platinum.

Her Tiffany & Co jewels earrings are 18K yellow gold with over 3 carats of diamonds, a bracelet with over 3 carats of diamonds and 18L yellow gold and platinum from the Blue Book 2024: Tiffany Celeste Collection. 

Her rings were both Tiffany & Co: an 18L yellow gold with diamonds and platinum ring from Blue Book 2024: Tiffany Celeste Collection and a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Rock ring in platinum and 18L yellow gold with a Fancy Intense yellow diamond of over 4 carats, a white diamond over 4 carats, plus diamonds and pink sapphires. 

Zendaya's custom Maison Margiela gown is by John Galliano; The actress is styled by her longtime stylist Law Roach.

Ariana Grande looked ethereal in a white corset gown with a pleated skirt featuring blue and pink touches, adding matching bird cut-outs by her eyes.

Ashley Graham dazzled in a busty black sequin gown with floral accents along her waist.

Ashley's gown featured a vine of flowers along her waist front and back with pale pink flowers; the rest of the gown was jet black sequins with a halter corset and sleeve accents.

The cover girl styled her hair with very short bangs and the rest of her brunette locks pulled back.

La La Anthony wore an interesting outfit - which consisted of a mermaid style black and red dress with a closeup of a rose at the bottom half, with lace on her torso and arms. She held a single white pearly rose in her hands

Gwendoline Christie chose a red and black gown as well - which consisted of a black sheer lace cap and a velvet red frock, adding a dramatic hairstyle.

Chris Hemsworth, who is a co-chair for this year's Met Gala, arrived early with his wife Elsa Pataky; Chris donned a cream suit by Tom Ford while Elsa stood out in a gold ensemble. 

Matt Damon and wife Luciana stunned in Dior looks - Matt chose a classic black and white suit and Luciana wore a bridal white number. 

Ariana Grande looked ethereal in a white corset gown with a pleated skirt featuring blue and pink touches, adding matching bird cut-outs by her eyes

The gown had a draped fabric along her tiny waist, with her strawberry blonde locks pulled back into a long ponytail

Lana del Rey looked like a garden nymph in her nude and brown hued branch style frock, as she held on to a single rose

Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth are this year's co-chairs. 

Also on the committee is Vogue's Anna Wintour.

The honorary chairs for the evening are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.

'This year's co-chairs reflect a variety of career achievements, and all have distinct style histories with the Met Gala,' Vogue shared.

The showcase will feature approximately 250 items drawn from The Costume Institute's permanent collection - with many of the pieces too fragile to ever be worn again.

The pieces will all be displayed using elements such as AI, GCI, and more while playing up themes of land, sea, and sky. 

This year the event is titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion while the dress code is The Garden of Time

Social media star Emma Chamberlain wore a brown sheer gown with a dramatic train and branch-like sleeves, adding a diamond choker and smokey brown eye makeup

'It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion,' said Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, of the upcoming exhibition. 

'One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion.'

Guests expected to attend include the Kardashians, Blake Lively, Hailey Bieber, Sarah Jessica Parker and Timothee Chalamet. 

Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony and Ashley Graham are hosting while YouTuber Emma Chamberlain is expected to interview stars on the red carpet. 

Last year's gala honored late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
