Newcastle United's Miguel Almiron has been fined £1,550 for speeding on a busy road on the outskirts of the city.

While Paraguayan international Almiron pleaded guilty to two charges on April 26, the news only emerged on Wednesday, the same day as Man City's Jack Grealish was similarly forced to cough up £666 for speeding in a 30mph zone.

The England star insulted the Newcastle forward in a drunken dig in 2022 - but later revealed that he regretted the incident.

Almiron was caught exceeding the 30mph speed limit on the A167 on the outskirts of Newcastle in an Audi Q5, and then failed to identify himself to the police after the incident on November 10 2022.

The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to both charges on April 26 of this year at South Tyneside Magistrates Court, and was handed a fine of £1,550 and three points on his license.

Grealish made a drunken dig about Almiron in May 2022 - which he later admitted he regretted

Grealish was hit with a £1000 bill after admitting driving at 44mph in a 30mph zone in his Range Rover Sport in Wythall, Worcestershire, in July 2023.

The 28-year-old Man City midfielder had originally been accused of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of the vehicle, which costs up to £114,000, but that charge was withdrawn at Wednesday's brief hearing at Worcester Magistrates Court.

Grealish did not attend court but his barrister John Dye entered a guilty plea on his behalf. Mr Dye said he had been 'instructed to apologise' on Grealish's behalf. He was fined £666 and ordered to pay £110 costs and a £266 victim surcharge by magistrates.

Grealish made disparaging comments to Bernardo Silva at Manchester City's title parade in May 2022, joking that Riyad Mahrez 'had to be taken off' for playing like Almiron.

The Man City star later confessed to embarrassment at the whole affair in an interview with Mail Sport in December of the same year.

Grealish said: ‘I haven’t actually been asked about that and let me just address it.

‘I do some f*****g stupid stuff sometimes that I do regret. It was the day after the season finished and obviously I’d had a few drinks. Then I remember I was in Ibiza and it (the video) had obviously come out.

‘That was one thing I regret. I do stupid stuff and that was one.

‘I swear, I’m actually buzzing at the way he’s reacted. He said something about me in an interview the other day, he wished me the best.

‘I thought, “What a guy” because if somebody had said that about me, I’d have probably been the other way.

‘I messaged Matt Targett because I’m close with him from [Aston] Villa and I said to him, “Can you message him for me and say to him that I apologise”.

‘I thought the video was private. But even in private I shouldn’t have said it because he’s a fellow professional.’
