John Terry has labelled the BBC a 'disgrace' after the broadcaster mocked Cristiano Ronaldo for his penalty miss in Portugal's victory against Slovenia.
With the game level at 0-0, Ronaldo had the opportunity to score the winner from the penalty spot in extra-time but his effort was kept out by Slovenia goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
As they showed a replay of the penalty, the BBC added the caption 'Misstiano Penaldo', which sparked a furious reaction from former Chelsea star Terry. In an Instagram story, Terry stated: 'BBC this is a disgrace.'
Ronaldo was left in tears following his penalty miss. However, the 39-year-old managed to redeem himself by scoring from the spot as Portugal won 3-0 in the shootout to make it through to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.
Sadio Mane, who is team-mates with Ronaldo at club level for Al-Nassr, also defended Ronaldo as he wrote: 'You remain a great champion! CR7'.

Terry knows all too well what it feels like to miss a crucial penalty with the eyes of the world watching, with the Chelsea skipper infamously slipping and hitting the post when he had the chance to win the Champions League against Ronaldo's United in Moscow in 2008.
The former Chelsea and England captain was left in tears himself after that miss, so knows how Ronaldo felt.
Fans were also left shocked by the BBC's decision to mock Ronaldo.
One user wrote on X: 'No way is this real!'.
Meanwhile, another user claimed that Ronaldo can no longer be compared to Lionel Messi.

Portugal are now through to the last eight of the tournament, where they will take on France.
Ronaldo's side scored all three of their penalties in the shootout, with Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa saving three Slovenia penalties.
Speaking about his tearful reaction after the match, Ronaldo said: 'When I think about my family, I get emotional because they are unique moments, which I can't express in words, they are people I like, fans who are always with us and especially with me and I am very happy about it.'
He added: 'You can't be afraid, I've never been afraid to face things head-on, sometimes I get it right, sometimes I don't get it right, but giving up is something you'll never hear from my name.'
Appearing at a record sixth European Championship, Ronaldo has yet to score at the tournament other than his effort in the shootout.
Portugal finished top of Group F as they beat Czechia and Turkey before losing to Georgia.
