The body of a mother-of-three who went missing on her way to a 'job interview' about spying on the young wife of a gas station owner was found in Rio de Janeiro on Monday after a 10-day search.
Camille Monteiro, 21, was allegedly beaten by a man she was traveling with before her body was abandoned in the brush next to Magé River Highway, the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police said.
Monteiro had been approached by her nightclub coworker João Valente about taking photos proving a 70-year-old gas station owner's 24-year-old wife was cheating on him, police said.
Valente was reportedly acting as a middle man alongside his old friend Ednalvaro Maia, a former military cop who told investigators he accompanied Monteiro to the interview.
He believes she was killed because she scammed another woman who sought revenge by setting up the attack. Authorities have reservations about that version of events, but their request to arrest Valente and Maia was rejected by a court.

Maia claim he fled their vehicle after a man wearing a suit got in and began to attack Monteiro. When he returned to the site the following day he saw the young woman's body wrapped in a duvet.
Monteiro, who lived in the northern Rio de Janeiro neighborhood of Anchieta, left her home July 5 for the interview that was arranged to take place in the city center.
She contacted her aunt two hours later and left an audio message to let her know that she would be meeting a friend and that she would be running an errand in the west side neighborhood of Campo Grande.
Days after the disappearance, the family visited the nightclub where Valente worked to get information regarding Monteiro's whereabouts.
Authorities also visited the the club and discovered Monteiro's underwear at the scene, as well as condoms.

During the interrogation, Valente told investigators that the former cop instructed him to shut down his cell phone and destroy the SIM card.
'It went wrong! I went to look for the girl and she wasn't there!' the former cop texted the janitor, according to police reports. 'Turn off the phone and break the chip.'
Monteiro's mother, Janina Monteiro, 39, told Brazilian news outlet O Dia that they were not aware that kind of job her daughter was going to interview for.
Camille Monteiro's youngest child is just eight months old.
'She was full of life, an incredible mother who did everything for her children, so much so that she left home in search of a job, which we didn't know what it was, to try to provide a better life for her children,' Janina Monteiro said.
'I always helped her with everything, I never let her lack anything and I always supported her, but unfortunately they did this to my little girl.'
