A man believed to be one of the biggest producers of animal exploitation content in New South Wales has been charged by detectives.

The 38-year-old man, who goes by the online pseudonym 'Beast Boy', was arrested at a property in Moorland, about 30km north of Taree, on Tuesday.

In footage of the arrest, plain-clothed and uniformed officers are seen leading a man in a black t-shirt, shorts and sandals to a waiting police car.

RSPCA officers are later seen petting a small white dog before putting it in a kennel and removing the canine from the premises.

The man is accused of using encrypted messaging apps to allegedly share bestiality material featuring dogs, sheep, goats, chickens and a dead kangaroo.

He was charged with eight counts of bestiality, six counts of producing bestiality material, four counts of disseminating bestiality material, as well as possessing child abuse material, and using a carriage service to access and solicit child abuse material. Police expect there to be more charges.

The 38-year-old was refused bail and appeared in Taree Local Court on Tuesday.

The arrest comes after police discovered the online persona 'Beast Boy' after executing a series of search warrants across the Greater Sydney area.

Police took electronics and hard drives from the property on the Mid North Coast that will be forensically analysed in coming weeks.

A dog who was allegedly sexually abused by the man was seized by the RSPCA.

Police said inquiries under Strike Force Trawler would continue with anyone with information urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
