Australian daredevil motorbike rider Harry Bink has made history this week by becoming the first person to land a double backflip on a pier.

The world-first stunt was successfully attempted at the Redcliffe Jetty in Queensland in front of a large crowd on Monday morning.

Bink, who had to stop his bike quickly to avoid hitting the fence at the end of the jetty, said he was excited about landing the trick at Redcliffe which will be the location of the Fox Australian Supercross Championship in October.

'To do it here on the jetty, it was so gnarly,' Bink told News Corp.

Harry Bink (pictured) described the impressive stunt afterwards as 'gnarly'

'When I did the first rotation because we're on the jetty, I felt like I was so high in the air, I was looking down at the water and it just also I just felt like I was like three times higher in the air than I usually do it.

'To have everyone here watching it, it was mental.'

Bink recently told fans exactly how he pulls off the double backflip in a video for Monster Energy.

'As soon as I get on that jump I rip the throttle, wait for the top and pull as hard as I can,' said Bink.

'I slowly shift my weight to the centre of the bike and let the bike rotate around me.

'After one rotation I have a little look, spot the downy, once I feel myself falling I'll sit back in to the second rotation - wheels down.'

Championship director Kelly Bailey thinks the first race of the year will be a sell-out.

'We're thrilled to return the championship to Queensland where we've always been so incredibly supported,' Bailey says.

'Australian Supercross has had strong past success in Queensland – from 2019 in Brisbane to Coolum, Jimboomba, and Toowoomba to name a few locations.

'Timings have aligned to secure Kayo Stadium, where we believe the location, shape and size will produce a world-class track and allow for a bumper crowd, atmosphere, and weekend.'
