A Nashville mother admitted that she drowned her daughter because the seven-year-old would not leave her alone, according to authorities.

Brandi Elliot, 33, was charged with first-degree murder and denied bond after she  allegedly drowned her daughter Piper in Drakes Creek in Hendersonville on Saturday.

She reportedly told police she had been having a bad day and Piper would not give her what she wanted — 'time alone.'

That's then she decided to take Piper to a shallow area in the greenway and held her under the water until bubbles emerged.

Elliot told the child to be quiet as she held her under water 'like a largemouth bass,' as reported by WKRN

Elliot reportedly said she only realized what she had done after it was too late and tried to revive Piper with CPR.

Police said a family are witnesses in the probe; they have started a memorial along the greenway for Piper, and want to turn the area into 'Piper’s Pathway.'

Elliot claimed in court on Tuesday that she had been diagnosed with postpartum depression when her daughter was two but was not currently under medical care.

'When my daughter was two, I kind of lost it like I did this time,' Elliott said in court.

'I had postpartum depression and they gave me medicine for it. I was having a really bad time with sleeping.'

Her attorney and the state both said on Tuesday that they did not want her mentally evaluated at this time.

The accused killer has no criminal records and works at McDonald's.

Prosecutors have said they are considering the death penalty for Elliot if she's convicted.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Piper's father Jon Elliot, who is a military veteran and was injured in combat, according to the organizer Kip Ziemer.

The page reads: 'Jon will be needing as many donations as possible for the funeral arrangements, and basic everyday needs, he only get a small disability check each month.'
