Natalie Abberfield shares surprise message for Barnaby Joyce after her ex-husband married Vikki Campion in 'bush bash' wedding

Barnaby Joyce's ex-wife has shared a surprise message after the ex-Nationals leader married his former political advisor in a 'bush bash' wedding on the weekend.

Mr Joyce, 56, and Vikki Campion, 38, exchanged vows at his family's farm in Woolbrook, west of Walcha, in the NSW Northern Tablelands, on Sunday afternoon.

Natalie Abberfield, who was married to Mr Joyce for 24 years before the pair split in 2018, shared her best wishes for the couple on Monday.

'All I want to say is, I would just like to wish the happy couple all the best,' she told news.com.au.

Ms Abberfield revealed she had 'moved on' and that she was at a good place in life - enjoying her love of bodybuilding and working as a supervisor at a childcare centre.

She remains close to her four daughters, none of whom attended Mr Joyce and Ms Campion's wedding over the weekend.

'I am just looking after me and no one else I suppose,' Ms Abberfield said.

'That's probably it. Yeah. I've got a really good group of friends. My family is great. The girls are great. Yeah. I've moved on now. Totally moved on.

'I suppose that was one chapter of my book and now I am in a few new chapters of my book.'

Ms Abberfield earlier this year opened up about her surprise move into the world of bodybuilding after her bitter split with Mr Joyce.

She said that pumping iron was a major factor in her recovery from her ex-husband's devastating blindside and that it helped her 'rediscover' herself.

'I had always wanted to enter a bodybuilding competition, but there was simply never the right time,' she told SBS in April.

'When you're a mother with a young family, your priorities change, and the things that you once desired often go on the backburner.

'My marriage had ended and I was consumed with this overwhelming feeling of grief and the burning question, "Well, what now? I'm not needed anymore".'

Ms Abberfield said bodybuilding became 'my escape and my way of refocusing on my life'.

'I suppose it gave me a purpose to get up in the morning,' she said.

Mr Joyce and Vikki Campion tied the knot on Sunday at his family's sprawling farm in Woolbrook, New South Wales

Mr Joyce's youngest daugher Odette said none of his four girls were invited to Sunday's wedding

The news comes as Barnaby Joyce's youngest daughter Odette confirmed none of his four girls attended his wedding and her dad didn't even tell her about the ceremony.

On Saturday evening, just hours before the wedding, Odette used Instagram to share a photo of a friend's birthday celebration in the Sydney suburb of Manly - which is about five hours south of the venue.

On Monday, she confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that she wasn't invited to attended the celebration.

She said: 'Personally I wasn't invited to the wedding, wasn't even told about it from my father, I found out through other sources.'

'I'd also rather celebrate my friend's birthday than attend or even think about a wedding I don't care about nor support.

'If my father doesn't want to think about me or even consider me in the decisions he makes that ultimately affect me then frankly I don't have the time to think about him.'

Odette also slammed her father for allowing a media photographer to shoot the happy couple's nuptials.

She labelled it a 'grand attempt from them to stay relevant when everyone is over it'.

Joyce's relationship with Ms Campion sent shockwaves through Australia's political scene when their affair was exposed in February 2018 - two months before she gave birth to their son, Sebastian.

Once their relationship was public, Joyce resigned as deputy prime minister and Nationals leader.

Ms Abberfield was believed to have been blindsided by her husband's secret relationship.

At the time, Odette posted a picture of her mum and siblings on Instagram with the caption: 'The real Joyce family #whosbarnaby'.

Mr Joyce and Ms Campion's young sons Thomas and Sebastian, age four and five, donned Akubra hats, tan chinos and cowboy boots for their roles as ring bearers on Sunday.

The boys could be seen enjoying the reception with their parents and about 80 guests.

Mr Joyce proposed with a parti sapphire ring, a stone popular in his northern NSW electorate of New England, in January 2022.

'Rather than being down on one knee (to propose) I ended up being down on two. I was saying my prayers,' he said at the time.

When the couple announced their engagement, Mr Joyce said his family's reaction was as 'one would have expected' and not everyone was pleased.

'Some are happy and some are understandably not as happy,' Mr Joyce said.
