A minor pulled a gun on Isaiah Thomas before recognizing the two-time NBA All-Star and choosing not to fire the weapon, the 35-year-old soon-to-be free agent wrote in a since-deleted post on X.
‘Really trippin on how these young kids are moving around!!!’ wrote Thomas, who returned to the NBA with the Phoenix Suns in 2024 after spending the entire 2022-23 season on the free-agent market. ‘I really had a life changing moment yesterday where a kid pulled a AK47 out on me and the homies and if it wasn’t for who I was and him recognizing me in my own city he probably woulda ended all of our lives. Be SAFE.’
It's unclear where Thomas was at the time of the incident, but the 5-foot-guard is from Tacoma, Washington originally and has lived in the Phoenix area as well during his two stints with the Suns.
Furthermore, Thomas is seen in a gymnasium adorned with Arizona’s state flag in several recent social media posts, indicating he may have been in Phoenix at the time of the alleged standover.
‘We just gotta pray for these young men!!!’ Thomas wrote in another since-deleted post. ‘God was working yesterday [for real]. Damn it coulda all been over that quick smh. FOR NO REASON AT ALL!!!!’

Isaiah Thomas detailed the incident in a series of posts on X that he has since deleted
Thomas has not explained why he deleted the posts.
Not to be confused with Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas, the younger Isaiah is a father of three children with his wife Kayla: Two sons and one daughter.
He lost his sister, Chyna, in a fatal car crash in 2017 when he was still playing with the Boston Celtics.
After a decorated college career at the University of Washington, Thomas was taken with the last pick in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings.
After three impressive years in California’s capital, Thomas was traded to Phoenix, where he blossomed into one of the league’s top scoring guards.
In 2015 he was dealt to Boston, where he twice earned All-Star honors as a member of the Celtics.
However, the team would trade him to Cleveland for Kyrie Irving in 2017, and the athleticism Thomas used to beat bigger players began to wane. Between 2018 and 2022, Thomas played for the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets, not to mention the G League’s Grand Rapids Gold and Salt Lake City Stars.
