Anthony Edwards has broken his silence following claims he tried to force an Instagram model to get an abortion after cheating on his pregnant long-term partner, with the NBA star claiming his comments were made 'in the heat of a moment (and) are not me'.
The Minnesota Timberwolves guard did not apologize after Paige Jordae released alleged text messages between the pair, which purported to show him telling her: 'Get an abortion... just take the pills.'
Edwards did not deny the claims either, when on Monday he wrote: 'I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man.
'All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them. I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time.'
Edwards' statement comes just four days after his long-term girlfriend Jeanine Robel announced she was pregnant, too.

The alleged screenshots, posted by Jordae on her Instagram story, show her telling Edwards that she is expecting a child. His immediate response read: 'Hell nawl can't do this.'
He then purportedly told her: 'Get a abortion lol... I don't want a kid.'
As of Monday lunchtime, a number of screenshots remained on Jordae's Instagram page, which has 1.4million followers.
They included an invoice for a wire transfer of $100,000 - allegedly sent by Edwards to Jordae. Previous 'text messages' showed the NBA star offering her money.
According to the messages, Edwards demanded video proof of the model taking 'the right' abortion pills and asking her to 'handle (this) like grown ups.'
She also accused the players of lies and manipulation, writing: 'I've never once ran (sic) to the internet about NO ONE.
'I tried over and over to handle this privately and my efforts were ignored. I've been lied to and manipulated by someone who know exactly what they're doing and takes no accountability for anything.'

This is not the first time the Timberwolves star has landed himself in hot water over a social media scandal.
Last year, Edwards issued a groveling apology after posting a homophobic video on his Instagram, in which he referred to a group of men as 'queer a** n****s'.
The NBA guard took to social media to post the clip from his car, in which he zooms in on a group of shirtless men on the sidewalk.
Commentating over the top of the clip, Edwards can be heard saying 'Look at these queer a** n****s, man. Look at the world I came to' - but he then rowed back on his words and apologized.
