In another set of exclusive photos, Harmon was captured dressed in a bright red athletic quarter zip top as he casually collected his mail.

Harmon almost left  NCIS after just four seasons

Harmon bid farewell to his beloved character, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, in an emotional exit from NCIS in 2021.

Addressing his departure, Harmon shared his heartfelt feelings as he said goodbye to his character he played for  over two decade, expressing his appreciation and joy in portraying Agent Gibbs.

'What has always drawn me here is the character I play and to keep it fresh and to keep it challenging,' said the Emmy Award-nominated performer.

'Plot-wise, this character has taken the path that it did. I thought it was honest and OK,' he said in 2022.

This week, sources revealed that to keep Harmon happy on the show, the network had to fire co-creator Donald P. Bellisario four years after the show premiered in 2003.

According to E News, the NCIS cast members, including Harmon, claimed that Bellisario's toxic work environment significantly hindered the filming process.

Harmon allegedly nearly made his own departure from NCIS after just four seasons due to Bellisario's micromanagement and the stressful work environment, which he said impacted his personal life.

He said it was due to the grueling hours and difficult conditions.

Harmon claimed that Bellisario's insistence on last-minute script changes made it challenging for the cast to memorize lines, making the already demanding workload even more difficult.

There were rumors that Mark was not going to return for the 19th season, though it's believed that he came back because he learned CBS might not renew the show if he didn't return.

NCIS was a spin-off of CBS' JAG, both of which were created by Bellisario, which ran for 10 seasons between 1995 and 2005.

The show ended up spawning a number of CBS spin-offs itself, NCIS: Los Angeles, which debuted in 2009 and is currently in its 13th season, NCIS: New Orleans, which was canceled after seven seasons, and NCIS: Hawaii, which debuted this fall.
