A seemingly innocuous tweet announcing the new jersey numbers for the players the New England Patriots 2024 draft selections set off a firestorm over the inclusion of a previously unseen logo.
The Patriots included a new circular logo with the letters 'NE' in it with the 'Pat Patriot 2.0' logo in the negative space between them.
Fans were sent into such an outrage over this that it quickly became a trending topic on Twitter.
'That new alternate logo is absolute hot garbage,' wrote one outraged user. 'And if you put that on jerseys, I will not pay a dime for one.'
'Idk if this is an unpopular take or not but I'm not loving this new logo,' wrote another account.

Another posted, 'Whats that ugly logo on this layout?!?!?? What are we doing man!!! Its not [the New England Revolution of MLS].'
'They're really pushing this new logo. Could be setting up for a new uniform next season when eligible,' another account wrote.
Eventually, the backlash grew so much that the Patriots twitter account posted a meme telling people that they were not getting rid of the old logo.
The Patriots finished last season with the third-worst record in football - coming in at 4-13.
