Everton are stepping up their interest in Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh as conversations continue over the proposed sale of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Eddie Howe's side.
Calvert-Lewin has been on Newcastle's radar for over a year but they had concerns over his injury record. However, he put work in on his conditioning last summer so that he was more robust and was able to lead the line at Everton for most of the season.
With a year left on his current deal, Everton have offered him a new contract while Chelsea also showed tentative interest which has since cooled. However, the prospect of joining up with Newcastle's project is appealing to the 27-year-old who is valued around £35million by the Goodison club.
In turn they are keen on the 19-year old Minteh who enjoyed a stand-out season on loan at Feyenoord, under new Liverpool boss Arne Slot, scoring 11 goals - ten in the league.

Meanwhile Sean Dyche's side have stepped up their interest in Newcastle winger Yankuba Minteh
He joined Newcastle from Danish side OB last year for £6million and was immediately sent out on loan. The Gambia international gained Champions League experience and ended the season by winning the Dutch Cup but was sent off in the process.
Brighton have also shown interest as they assess wing targets but Newcastle are understood to value the teenager at around £30m with Roma and Borussia Dortmund also among his admirers.
Newcastle still want another winger themselves after missing out on top target Michael Olise at Crystal Palace who is joining Bayern Munich.
Newcastle are also continuing negotiations with Burnley over a £17m deal for James Trafford. The England goalkeeper is currently on holiday in Spain.
