Newcastle are closing in on a deal to sign Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer.
Mail Sport understands the framework of the package is now in place after progress this week and the move should be concluded in London in the coming days.
Barring any last-minute hitches, Adarabioyo will become Newcastle’s first confirmed arrival of the summer window.
The 26-year-old is said to be particularly excited about playing under Eddie Howe, having been enthused by the project presented to him on Tyneside.
Adarabioyo would also be a likely starter ahead of next season, given the long-term knee injuries suffered by centre-backs Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles.

The defender would likely be a starter for Newcastle and impressed at Fulham
A graduate of Manchester City’s academy, he appeared 129 times for Fulham over four seasons but was a free agent heading into this summer following the expiry of his contract.
Newcastle and Howe are thought to be attracted by the player’s physicality and ball-playing ability.
Meanwhile, as reported by Mail Sport, Newcastle are hopeful of concluding a deal for Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer and are tracking Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise and Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
