Nottingham Forest have made an improved offer for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah had been earmarked as a potential target, and the club submitted a £25m bid for the one-cap England international earlier this month.

However, talks between the two Premier League clubs have since faltered, and Nuno Espirito Santo has continued his pursuit of Gimenez.

Forest have offered around £28m for the Mexico international.

Argentinian-born Gimenez started his career with Mexican side Cruz Azul before being brought to the Eredivisie by then Feyenoord boss Arne Slot in the summer of 2022.

Nuno Espirito Santo is intent on improving his attacking options before the transfer deadline

In his first season at De Kuip Gimenez was instrumental in helping the club secure its first league title in six years, netting 15 times in 32 games as they finished seven points clear of PSV in top spot.

Gimenez followed up his impressive maiden campaign in the Netherlands with another prolific season in 2023-24 sitting third in the league's scoring charts with 24 goals.

The 23-year-old has started all three of Feyenoord's league games this season and notched a brace as they defeated PSV in the Johann Cruyff Shield.

Should Gimenez make the move to the City Ground, he would find himself competing for place in the starting XI with the likes of Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Forest remain unbeaten this season, following up their opening weekend draw against Bournemouth with a 1-0 win at Southampton on Saturday.
