Nottingham Panthers players were seen wearing neck guards during Adam Johnson's tribute match.
Johnson, who played for the Panthers, died after being hit in the neck with a skate during a game against Sheffield Steelers last month.
Johnson, 29, was pronounced dead of a fatal neck injury, and on Tuesday, a man was arrested on charges of manslaughter - before later being released on bail.
Over half of the Panthers players wore neck guards during the tribute match against Manchester Storm, which took place at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday. Ollie Betteridge was amongst the players to do so.
The Panthers confirmed that they will retire Johnson's number 47 jersey.

As reported by BBC Sport, the English Ice Hockey Association will make neck guards mandatory from 2024 onwards.
Canadian hockey teams have also made neck guards mandatory.
However, the Elite Ice Hockey League, the division in which Johnson was playing, announced that it has no plans to make neck guards mandatory.
Supporters laid wreaths, flowers and jerseys outside the Motorpoint Arena as they paid tribute to Johnson.
