NSW government service has started a war of words with their Queensland counterparts ahead of game one of the 2024 State of Origin series in Sydney - and Maroons fans won't be happy.

The stage is set for the first match of the three-game series in Sydney on Wednesday night, and the Transport for NSW social media team got the first win on the board for the Blues.

On Wednesday morning prior they released a tongue-in-cheek video 'introducing a new service for NSW supporters only'.

'For a limited time, use our new "station rags" to wipe off your feet before your journey,' they wrote.

Transport for NSW have fired the first shots at Queensland ahead of game one of the State of Origin series with a cheeky video (pictured)

'Made from 100% recycled maroon trash, it'll be a quick glimpse into how our @NSWBlues are going to walk all over their opposition tonight.'

The video clip shows a Blues supporter wiping their shoes with a Maroons jersey as they board a train.

Queensland Rail fired back almost immediately, writing: 'Oh very funny. You won't be laughing when we clean up tonight!'

A short time later Queensland Rail put out a similar video showing a staffer using Blues supporter gear to clean a railway station.

The NSW and Queensland police forces have also kicked off their annual Origin banter, with Queensland Police Service (QPS) social media team racking up the early points.

On Wednesday morning they introduced two of their new police dogs and decked each out in Origin gear.

'Who says Queensland are the underdogs?' they wrote.

'Meet our newest recruits - ARCHIE and ARLO! These police puppies are confident that the Maroons will have the Blues chasing their tails!

Queensland Rail responded with a similar video where Blues gear was used to clean facilities

Queensland Police got in on the Origin banter, dressing two of their new recruits up for Origin

'Sorry NSW, looks like you’re in for a ruff night.'

In the video clip, the pup in the Maroons gear gets the better of the one representing NSW as they have a playfight - leading the NSW Police to respond by saying they saw a few head-high tackles in the footage.

The State of Origin series set to kick off in Sydney on Wednesday at 8.05pm (AEST), and Queensland are currently favourites with the bookies.
