While there was disappointment for Harry Garside in the boxing ring in Paris, giant Aussie star Teremoana got his Olympic Games campaign off to a flyer with a brutal victory.
The 26-year-old, competing in the super heavyweight division, delivered a first round knockout win in his scrap with Ukraine's Dmytro Lovchynskyi on Monday afternoon local time.
The sorry Ukrainian survived a knockdown and a standing eight count before Teremoana rocked him with a punishing one-two, forcing the referee to wave off the contest.
After being officially confirmed as the bout winner, the Aussie showboated with a cheeky celebration in the centre of the ring.
'I wasn't planning to go for the knock-out, the plan was to go out there and box but I was landing a few clean punches and he was feeling it and went down every time he got caught,' Teremoana said.
