The Olympic Games are officially underway after Friday night's chaotic and rain-soaked opening ceremony

Though the Parisian Games got underway with the football on Wednesday, it is today that most of the action kicks off.

In total 327 British athletes have crossed the Channel with hopes of Olympic glory across 26 sports.

From Team GB House, Sir Steve Redgrave looks forward to those ambitions being acted on in earnest after years of preparation in an exclusive video with Mail Sport.

The legendary rower, who won five gold medals at five consecutive Olympics, has named the athletes in action today who stand the best chance of ultimate success.

Sir Steve Redgrave has named his three main medal hopes for today at the Paris Olympics

He believes Team GB have a great chance of a medal in the men's 4x100 freestyle swimming

Josh Tarling in the men's road cycling time trial has a 'brilliant chance' of a medal today

Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen will be competing in the women's syncho 3m diving

The first of those is in the men's 4x100m freestyle swimming, with heats for that getting underway from 11.26am BST, with the final at 8.44pm.

Next up, Redgrave identifies Josh Tarling as one to watch in the men's road cycling time trial event, which kicks off at 3.32pm.

Tarling has a 'brilliant chance' of picking up one of 14 goal medals available today, according to Redgrave.

Finally, Redgrave picks out the duo of Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen in the women's synchronised 3m diving as medal hopefuls, with the final for that at 10am BST.

Redgrave believes that six medals would represent a great start for the squad on a hectic opening Saturday of the 2024 Games.

He also gives his verdict on last night's opening ceremony - and talks about what it's like to be part of such a historic occasion.

On top of all of that, he gives a small insight into the mood into the 'great hive of activity' at Team GB House.

Mail Sport and The National Lottery have teamed up to bring you exclusive video content from our greatest Olympian Sir Steve Redgrave each day during the Olympic Games in Paris. Sir Steve won five Gold medals in an illustrious career and is considered by many to be our greatest Olympic hero.

Back in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympics, Team GB only won one gold medal – and Steve alongside Matthew Pinsent delivered it for the nation. This was in an era before National Lottery funding was introduced which has transformed the fortunes of our British athletes.

Thanks to National Lottery players, Team GB is now a superpower on the world stage winning 22 Golds and 64 medals at the last Olympics in Tokyo.
