Team GB kept the gold medal train rolling on day four of the Olympic Games with a pair of top prizes during the thrilling action in Paris.

Nathan Hales stormed to victory in the men's trap shooting final earlier in the day with a new Olympic record of 48 targets hit from a possible 50. Before the swimming quartet of James Guy, Tom Dean, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott defended their title in the 4x200m freestyle.

Elsewhere, Andy Murray and Dan Evans continued their astonishing run - extending the Scots' career in the process - as they saved two match points to advance to the quarter-finals of the men's tennis doubles.

Of course it wasn't just the Brits that wowed in Paris. Team USA's gymnasts, led by Simone Biles, took home the women's team gold in an event which saw Team GB fall agonisingly short of a medal in fourth place.

Sir Steve Redgrave heaped praised on the British athletes who helped take the nations' gold medal tally to four. The legendary rower, who won five gold medals at five consecutive Games, has been sitting down with Mail Sport to reflect and preview the Games, day by day.

Andy Murray and Dan Evans claimed yet another dramatic victory in the men's tennis doubles

There are more medal hopefuls on day five in Paris, as Team GB's rowers get their campaigns underway, while two of Britain's male gymnasts and BMX world champion Kieran Reilly go in search of silverware.

Following the disappointment of their fourth place in the team event, Jake Jarman and Joe Fraser compete in the individual artistic all-around on Wednesday afternoon. Redgrave hopes they can build on their first outing in Paris.

Reilly meanwhile, has his sights fully set on gold after an impressive qualification on day four. The Newcastle native booked his place in the final with an average of 91.21, the best among all competitors.

Redgrave also looked ahead to the triathlon that finally got underway on Wednesday morning following delays due to pollution in the River Seine which hosted the swimming portion of the event.

World champion Kieran Reilly qualified for Wednesday's final with highest average score of 91.21

Tokyo silver medalist Mallory Franklin is looking to go one better in Paris in the C1 event

Team GB have already secured two medals in canoeing and there are high hopes for further glory when Tokyo silver medalist Mallory Franklin looks to go one better in the women's C1.

Redgrave finished off by reflecting on Team GB's performance so far compared to Olympics of the past. Notably, the roster were yet to claim a gold at this point in London, while in Brazil the medal tally stood at just six.

Mail Sport and The National Lottery have teamed up to bring you exclusive video content from our greatest Olympian Sir Steve Redgrave each day during the Olympic Games in Paris.

Sir Steve won five Gold medals in an illustrious career and is considered by many to be our greatest Olympic hero. Back in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympics, Team GB only won one gold medal – and Steve alongside Matthew Pinsent delivered it for the nation.

This was in an era before National Lottery funding was introduced which has transformed the fortunes of our British athletes. Thanks to National Lottery players, Team GB is now a superpower on the world stage winning 22 Golds and 64 medals at the last Olympics in Tokyo.
