Fans have taken to social media to blast the scorecards as Katie Taylor regained the light-welterweight title by defeating Chantelle Cameron

After an epic fight that went the distance, Taylor won via majority decision to win back the belt she lost in May in front of 13,000 fans at Dublin's 3 Arena.

However, despite the Bray Bomber shading the bout eyebrows were raised at the scorecards that each told a different story of what happened in front of them.

The vastly different scores saw one judge score the fight with a justified 96-94 in Taylor's favour, another judge it as all square with a 95-95 result, while the third saw the winner much more dominant by giving it 98-92 in the new champion's favour.

Upon seeing the scores, fans vented their displeasure with the results and questioned how scores with such varying degree of difference had been calculated.

Katie Taylor beat rival Chantelle Cameron but fans questioned how the judges scored the bout

Taylor's win was scored 98-92 by one judge, which was described as 'scandalous' by one post

How the judges scorecards looks after the fight and each scored the bout rather differently

'Atrocious scorecards as to be expected. What is the point?' One blunt post read, aimed squarely at the result of the three judges.

Equally as scathing was another fan's view, who didn't hold back on seeing how one of the judges scored the fight.

Stating: 'I think 98 - 92 Taylor may genuinely be one of the worst scorecards I've ever seen in the sport.'

The displeasure continued to flow across social media and another account called the scores 'scandalous' and questioned what it does for the sport.

'After an incredible fight, it is such a shame that the scorecards were all over the place.' Read the post on X.

Fans were not happy with the final scores and took to social media to air their views on it

'No way you can score that bout 98-92 in favour of Katie Taylor. A scandalous scorecard that does boxing no favours.'

The victory was redemption for the 37-year-old, who had lost on her first homecoming earlier this year, and was clearly emotional upon winning back her title.

Taking a lap of honour around the ring and fist pumping the air after her win, before bursting into tears as she addressed the Dublin crowd.
