A couple have allegedly been caught on Dashcam footage stealing a Mercedes before leading police on a wild car chase and crashing into a ute.

A 28-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were arrested following the collision with the Ford Ranger in Parkville, in Melbourne's north, just after 9am on Monday.

The pair had allegedly stolen the Mercedes from an enclosed car park when they were suddenly pounced on by police.

An officer yelled at the pair to get out of the vehicle, but they instead allegedly floored it and accelerated away from police, resulting in a wild car chase.

A 28-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were arrested following the collision with the Ford Ranger in Parkville, in Melbourne 's north, just after 9am on Monday

The woman encouraged her partner behind the wheel to 'go baby go!'.

The car then turned into a street at high speed and swerved so as not to hit a tram head on.

'How's that for driving darling? Good going or what?' the man said.

The woman replied: 'Good boy. Get us away.'

The woman then said she was worried about police air patrol before her partner said one of the tyres had been popped and they needed to get out and run.

The Mercedes at times allegedly swerved onto the wrong side of the road and careened through red lights, all while the man boasted about his driving skills.

The Mercedes ploughed into a black Ford Ranger, putting an end to their wild driving

'That was mad driving darling, that was wicked driving baby,' he said.

'Lucky I got out of there when I did, not one scratch on the car. They'll be thinking to themselves this c*** can drive.'

Upon realising the police had caught up with them, the man then accelerated down a road but allegedly failed to stop at a traffic light when it turned red.

The Mercedes was then T-boned by a black Ford Ranger, sending the couple spinning into nearby parked cars.
