You heard it first on the ESPN 'Manningcast': Patrick Mahomes - the two-time MVP, two-time Super Bowl champion, and two-time Super Bowl MVP - wears the exact same underwear for each NFL game he plays.

Surprisingly, that may not have been his biggest revelation - rather his cosmic powers of perception when it came to calling out plays that the Denver Broncos defense ran against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.

When asked by Peyton Manning what he thought the Broncos were going to do on 3rd & 9, Mahomes replied 'They're gonna bring pressure and spy with 42 (Nik Bonitto). They're gonna play him like they played against me.'

Sure enough, that's exactly what happened and it led to Allen tossing an incomplete pass on the play.

Both Peyton and Eli Manning were visibly impressed by Mahomes' play recognition on the fly.

Throughout the remainder of the broadcast, Mahomes gave further insight into some secrets that he kept - including his apparently lucky underwear.

'My wife got them for me... so I have to wear them,' Mahomes admitted.

'At the same time, I threw them on that first season [and] we had a pretty good season that season.

'I only wear them for game day though, so they're not too worn down. They're not like these nasty... I clean them.

'I wash them every once in a while at least. I mean... if we're on a hot streak, then I can't wash them, you know? I just gotta keep it rollin'.

'So, as long as I'm winning football games I'll keep the superstition going.'

Mahomes ducked Eli's questions about exactly what kind of underwear it was: 'Is it a thong? Is it a g-string?'

The Chiefs quarterback also spoke about intimidating environments that he plays in and his use of a silent snap count.

He was able to point out that the Denver Broncos had put a 'spy' on Bills QB Josh Allen

Mahomes also revealed that he wears the same pair of underwear each game, with the garment given to him by his wife, Brittney

'I'm mostly verbal. The only times I've been silent is in Baltimore and in Seattle where under center, I had to do signals.'

Mahomes said that adjustment was necessary because, 'it was so loud in those stadiums the [blockers] couldn't even hear me.'

The Chiefs were on a bye this past week and so far, they've amassed a 7-2 record to start the season.

Mahomes himself hasn't been performing to the same high standard that he's used to.

He's chalked up only 17 touchdowns on the season so far and his eight interceptions is coming very close to his career-worst mark of 13 with eight games to go in the season.
