Pep Guardiola claimed Manchester City’s run of form has nothing to do with luck — but was at a loss to explain why the Treble winners are conceding so many goals.

Guardiola has seen his side let in 10 goals in their last four games in all competitions, while City have failed to win three straight Premier League matches for the first time in six years. Spurs’ three goals came from just four shots on target.

‘We don’t concede many chances,’ Guardiola said. ‘We lost against Wolves after two shots on target. Liverpool was similar.

‘We have to learn, and watch the game back. I learnt from Johan Cruyff that bad luck in football doesn’t exist. Is the team completely different from previous seasons? I don’t think so. It still feels the same to me.’

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou was frank with his injury-depleted squad at the break. ‘First half we were lucky still to be in it,’ the Australian said. ‘City could’ve blown us away. I said to them that if there’s any fallout, I’ll take responsibility but let’s show more conviction. The effort second half was outstanding.
