Phil Foden revealed he had suffered a 'bad dead leg' after the Man City star was forced off by injury in the 3-3 draw at Real Madrid.

The England forward scored a stunning second-half goal but limped off with three minutes to go and replaced by Julian Alvarez.

Foden was visibly frustrated at being taken off on Tuesday night, but later admitted that he has been hurt following a heavy challenge.

Asked by TNT Sports if he is alright, Foden said: 'I hope so. I've got a bit of a bad dead leg, but I've got a bit of time to recover now, so hopefully I can.'

Manchester City first face Luton Town on Saturday in the Premier League, before the second leg against Real Madrid next Wednesday.

Foden fired a stunning strike into the top corner from just outside the box in the 66th minute

Asked about the injury, manager Pep Guardiola said: 'It was a knock, he was grumpy with me because I made a substitution, he made a fantastic goal.'

Federico Valverde salvaged a draw for Real late on after City had taken a 3-2 lead with sumptuous strikes from Foden and Josko Gvardiol following a Ruben Dias own goal and Rodrygo strike that gave the hosts a half-time lead in Spain's capital.

The noisy home crowd had been left stunned after two minutes when City midfielder Bernardo Silva took advantage of a one-man wall to drill a low free kick from 40 metres just inside Andriy Lunin's post to give the visitors the lead.

It was a schoolboy error by the Ukrainian who seemed to have been waiting for a cross and left his right side unguarded. He got a hand on the ball but could not keep it out.

Afterwards Pep Guardiola told TNT Sports: 'We were a bit anxious with the ball in the first half we lost a lot of balls and when that happens (Real Madrid) are so difficult to play against.

'The second half we showed incredible personality in the way we played. To come back from two or three would be difficult in Manchester.

'We played with composure, two fantastic goals. At the end Madrid, 77 minutes in this stadium they can do it. 3-3 we take it and we have to win the next game to get to the semi-final.'
