Plane forced to make emergency landing at Sydney Airport after mid-flight fuel leak

A plane has been forced to make an emergency landing at Sydney Airport after a mayday report was made about a mid-flight fuel leak. 

The United Parcel Service (UPS) plane, which had three people onboard, was forced to return to the airport at about 9.30pm on Saturday. 

The fuel leak was reported less than two hours after UPS152 departed Sydney for Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport in China at 7.36pm. 

A NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman told Newswire that fire trucks had been deployed to the runway along with the airport's own fire service. 

It appears the aircraft had just crossed the NSW border into Queensland when the mayday report was made and pilots turned around. 

Technicians were seen inspecting the plane after it landed safely in Sydney.
